Earthbound who is lucas
While he initially leaves his hometown of Tazmily Village to locate Duster, he quickly becomes involved in a greater struggle against the Pigmask Army.
Lucas' main party of allies includes Kumatora , Duster, and his beloved pet dog Boney. In battle, Lucas fills the same archetype as his predecessor Ness did in EarthBound , being somewhat slow, but having a strong basic attack and access to a variety of PSI techniques such as stat boosts, Lifeup , PK Flash , and the aforementioned PK Love.
Whereas the previous Mother protagonists wielded baseball bats , Lucas generally wields sticks. Lucas' appearances in the Super Smash Bros.
Despite this fact, Lucas became more or less of a mainstream character in gaming culture rather than remaining a curious cult character who would be known only to the highly devoted Nintendo fandom. On July 17th, , Masahiro Sakurai updated the Smabura-Ken on Ness's profile, revealing that Ness was planned to be scrapped and replaced by Lucas as a playable character.
However, Ness instead reprised his role due to the cancellation of Mother 3 on the Nintendo Lucas makes his Super Smash Bros.
His special moves are similar to Ness , but with some key differences. For example, Lucas' PK Thunder goes through opponents and can deal multiple hits, whereas Ness' version disappears on contact.
Lucas also has near-identical physics to Ness. However, the majority of Lucas' moves completely differ from Ness, thus rendering him as a pseudo- clone of his fellow EarthBound series fighter. Lucas is ranked 30th out of 38 on the tier list , placing him in the E tier. His lower mid-tier placing is primarily due to the additional 10 frames he gets when grab released a trait he shares with Ness , which makes him vulnerable to grab release follow-ups from every character, including zero-death chain grabs from Marth and Donkey Kong.
Although Lucas was not present in the final roster upon Super Smash Bros. Lucas is a blonde-haired boy who wears a red and yellow striped t-shirt, blue shorts, and orange and yellow shoes with white socks.
He has black eyes that are sometimes shown to have a blue hue, particularly in the Super Smash Bros. His hair is long and curves upwards on his left side. His appearence is noticeably different from the previous protagonists of the EarthBound series , Ninten and Ness , who both wear red baseball caps, blue and yellow striped t-shirts, and have black hair. Lucas lives in the southern portion of Tazmily Village with his twin brother Claus, father Flint, mother Hinawa, and their dog Boney.
Lucas is the younger twin brother and thus is the youngest in his family. His favorite food is Omelets. He is close with his family, primarily, although he does know the other villagers fairly well. He also loves his dog, Boney , and goes out playing and taking walks with him often. Additionally he's also a late riser as shown in the prologue. Lucas's personality differs depending on the part of the game. At the beginning of the game, Lucas is shown to be a kind and honest boy, although he is also the more timid of the twins.
He is seen as being shy and coddled, sometimes shown to be nervous at times, but despite this he enjoys to play. During the events of Chapter 1 , Lucas is also shown to be weak and very emotional. After the death of Hinawa and disappearance of Claus, Lucas is visibly distraught, and struggles to cope with the losses that he's so abruptly had to endure, to the point where he earns the reputation of being a "crybaby".
Duster describes Lucas's feelings as if "his poor little heart is about to break in two". Lucas becomes very shut in, refusing to leave his home after Hinawa's funeral and being unable to sleep.
In Chapter 2 , he's shown to struggle with guilt due to the disappearance of Claus, as he wishes he had gone with him. At the end of Chapter 3 , Lucas finally shows his strength when he hurries to rescue Kumatora , Salsa and Wess from the Pigmasks by calling a Drago to smash their tanks. He learns about the current situation of Tazmily Village, which combined with the losses he endured, he begins to become stronger and mature.
When Lucas has grown up three years later, his personality is different. He is strong, determined, and resourceful, however he is still kind and cares for his family and townsfolk.
He still occasionally visits Hinawa's grave, which shows he still misses her, and this is further implemented in Chapter 6 where he tries to reach Hinawa in the sunflower field. He is also somewhat rebellious, as during the three years he refuses to buy a Happy Box.
Lucas also shows self-esteem, as a few residents of Tazmily treat him crudely due to his refusal to buy a Happy Box, however Lucas doesn't let this get the better of him. Lucas admits to Kumatora in Chapter 4 that he still wants to become stronger.
Following this, he teams up with Duster and Kumatora and bravely pursues any task that comes his way, no matter how frightening it is. Lucas is described as becoming "more and more gallant" throughout the remaining chapters.
Nippolyte even claims that Lucas has "grown so strong that Flint doesn't need to worry anymore", and has "grown up to be a truly good lad. The Saturn Valley coffee scene shows that Lucas has grown strong enough to help those he otherwise couldn't. However Lucas still displays glimpses of himself from prior to Chapter 4.
He still shows his love for his family, and is still seen to become emotional, as he is stated to want to cry during the final battle with the brainwashed Claus. Nevertheless Lucas has still became a kind, resilient, and brave boy and fights through the odds up to the very end. In the game's prologue , Lucas is visiting his grandfather, Alec , with his family. He enjoyed the visit a lot, often playing outside in the fresh mountain air with his twin brother and the Dragos.
However, in the next chapter , he and his family get lost in the burning Sunshine Forest , and his mother ends up getting attacked and killed by a reconstructed Drago. Lucas and Claus's lives were spared, instead getting pushed into the river and later washing up on the shore and being found by some of the villagers.
However, their behavior changed quite a bit with this incident; Lucas became even more shut-in and crying a lot more than usual, while Claus went to avenge his mother and took a knife to slay the Drago. Claus was unsuccessful, however, and ended up getting severely injured and lost in the mountains. Lucas's father, Flint , was struck very hard by both of these tragedies and ended up neglecting Lucas altogether, constantly mourning Hinawa at her grave and searching for Claus in the mountains.
Near the end of Chapter 3 , Lucas comes in at a critical moment with Kumatora , Salsa and Wess surrounded by Pigmask tanks, calling upon a Drago to smash the tanks and save them from being captured or even killed.
He then learns of the current situation, with the Pigmasks slowly taking over Tazmily Village and was urged by Wess to stay in Tazmily to protect the village with his father.
He followed his advice to stay in the village, however, it was too late to prevent damage being done to the town. Tazmily Village then started urbanizing, townspeople became greedy and Chimeras were released out in the wild, radically changing the once simple and trusting town. In Chapter 4 , Lucas sets out with his dog to investigate the mysterious bassist, who is apparently an amnesiac Duster , at Club Titiboo.
On the way there, he met a Magypsy named Ionia , who taught him psychic powers. He then encounters Kumatora at the club, seeing her for the first time in three years. She discusses the various things that have happened over the past three years, and they both come to the conclusion that they need to become stronger and try to stop the Pigmask Army.
They both also get Duster to come along with them on their journey, and also search for the lost Egg of Light. Later at the warehouse, he is repeatedly mistaken for the Pigmask Army's commander, the Masked Man. He is given a special uniform to wear, then continues to chase the Clayman down the Highway. After retrieving the Egg, his disguise gave him the advantage of being able to invade Thunder Tower to take down the generator causing the lightning strikes to the village.
However, destroying the generator also resulted in the destruction of the tower, and while him and his friends used Rope Snake to cling onto a nearby aircraft that was originally brought there for Fassad 's safety, Rope Snake couldn't hold on well enough and all of them fell in different locations on the island, being separated once again.
There, the Masked Man confronts them again. This time, with the Franklin Badge , Lucas and co. After the needle is pulled, Lucas goes to New Pork City.
After a long fight, he confronts the Pig King himself, Porky. Porky has grown old in body from the time travel, but is still a spoiled child in mind. He wishes to end existence by using the Masked Man to awaken the dragon. The Machine grants safety at the expense of being trapped forever. Before Lucas can pull the final needle, the Masked Man confronts him once again.
This time, Flint has told Lucas the identity of the Masked Man: his long lost brother Claus, whom Porky had resurrected to be the soulless slave to pull the needles. Lucas confronts him, but is unable to fight him. Flint and Hinawa's spirit speak to Claus, making him remember his past. Claus commits suicide by reflecting his lightning back at him.
He allows Lucas to pull the final needle and awaken the dragon. It is unknown exactly what happens after this.
A sequence at the end shows a black screen where the player can move around and speak to characters. One says Lucas wants to speak with him, so one can infer that Lucas survives the game. When Masahiro Sakurai has updated the original Smabura-Ken with Ness profile July 17, , he said that Lucas was intended to replace Ness as a playable character, but Ness was included due to time constraints, and probably due the cancellation in EarthBound 64, the first version of Mother 3 , which had been worked.
Lucas is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. He is quite similar to Ness , sharing three special moves. Lucas's standard special is PK Freeze , which can freeze an opponent. For instance, Lucas's PK Thunder can be used to attack an enemy multiple times with the same orb, rather than once.
His tether grapple utilizes the Rope Snake that Duster owns from Mother 3. His Side Smash Attack is a stick, which is his standard weapon in Mother 3.
